My moms cat has fleas and she doesn’t know how to get rid of them. A neighbor who has a cat asked her to try Frontline. Which one should I get and do I just need to apply it to the cats coat or do I need to give the cat a bath first?
Many thanks for your assistance!
I suggest you need to approach this problem in a 4 pronged manner.
Step 1: Clean your mom’s house. Make sure you hoover the carpets and floors thoroughly. Presuming the cat is a house cat, there are probably microscopic eggs, larvae and pupae all over the house. You may not see these with your naked eye. Make sure to pay particular attention to anywhere your moms cat stays.
Step 2: Cleanse the yard/garden. Zodiac Flea Treatment – Yard and Garden Spray is one such spray you can use. Don’t expect that this will kill all fleas straight away. You may need to spray the yard/garden a few times over 6-8 weeks before a bad infestation ceases. Make sure you read the instructions carefully on any garden/yard spray you choose.
Step 3: Treat your pet. There are a lot of brands on the market. The brand your mentioned in your email ( Frontline Flea Treatment) is one of the most popular. Have a look at Frontline Plus. It seems to be quiet effective on cats and is recommended by a lot of vets.
Step 4: Prevention: Once the flea treatment has completed its course, your mom needs to watch out for fleas. This can be as easy as using a flea comb to look for the existence of fleas.
